What if there is no alternative medication I can take? What is Special Authority?
If your medication is not covered by BC PharmaCare and no suitable alternatives are available, it may be accessible through Special Authority approval. Not all medications qualify. Your physician can apply to BC PharmaCare for Special Authority approval. If the criteria are met and the medication is approved, Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) will reimburse you, subject to coinsurance, exclusions, and BC PharmaCare price limit maximums.
