What is a Claims Review Committee (CRC)?

A Claims Review Committee (CRC) is a panel of three independent medical doctors that reviews Canada Life’s decision to deny or terminate a Long Term Disability claim. They will meet with you and assess the medical and vocational information reviewed by Canada Life to determine whether you are disabled, based on the definition outlined in the JFBT Plan Document. The CRC will submit their written decision to the Trust’s third-party administrator, the Healthcare Benefit Trust (HBT), and that decision will be distributed to you, your union, your employer, and Canada Life, who will take appropriate action based on the outcome.
