What is a Rehabilitation Review Committee (RRC)?

A Rehabilitation Review Committee (RRC) consists of three independent rehabilitation specialists or physicians who review Canada Life’s decision to suspend LTD benefits due to non-participation in a recommended rehabilitation plan. If you disagree with the recommended plan or believe you are medically unable to participate, you must either demonstrate why you cannot participate or request that your appeal be referred to the RRC. Similar to the CRC, the RRC will meet with you, review the information assessed by Canada Life, and submit their written decision, which will be shared with all relevant parties. Benefits will either remain suspended until you agree to participate in the approved rehabilitation plan, or benefits will continue, allowing Canada Life to monitor your claim and determine if a new rehabilitation plan is appropriate.
