Will I still continue to receive LTD benefits if I access my pension, either through retirement or I accept the Early Retirement Incentive Benefit (ERIB) program payout?
No. If you retire and receive a pension, either through direct retirement or through an Early Retirement Incentive Benefit (ERIB) payout, your LTD benefits will cease.
You will continue to be covered for Group Life and AD&D at no cost to you until you reach age 65 at which point you may convert to your own private policy with Canada Life within 31 days of your coverage termination without the need to provide medical.
In addition, if you were enrolled in the Extended Health benefit while on LTD, you may continue coverage to age 65 if you continue to pay 50% of the monthly contributions to your employer. Alternatively, you may elect to obtain your coverage directly through BC Pensions.
